The Ale Pub of Berlin

We found out very much to our amazement that wednesday is the clammiest club night. There wasn't a whole lot going on. Despite the odds being against us, we still tried to party at a decent place, called Maria am Ostbahnhof. It was kind of spooky walking 50 metres out the road into the dark woods just following a tiny ragged pathway. We finally got in to the place, but to our disappointment there was a private mature party. Now think about a club that on a game night holds 1,500 people looks on a private night with 100 80's past ravers? So we got the hell out of there. It was a nice place though, kind of factory-like overlooking the river, with disco balls hanging on oak trees. Nice combo.

Last night we got to know the cabbing culture of Berlin. We needed to change swiftly from place to place so the obvious alternative was to try out for the first time the cabs in here. The prices were trademark Berlin: 2,80 & 3,20 starting prices on day & night respectively. Divided by four each trip cost max two euros. Not bad.

From the mature-haven we set course to Ebenswalder Strasse in Prenzlauer Berg, to the Kulturbrauerei bars. Pretty quiet in there..so by now most of us are pretty hammered, and one in particular was all shitfaced, a real demon. No wonder we got this crazy idea of finding the equivalent of Ale Pub in Helsinki. For those who don't know, it's the cheapest & crappiest bar in Helsinki, full of tossers & overly maked-up hoes. So we asked around a few questions & found ourselves in Matrix club, just in Warschauer Strasse. The place was everything we expected, and you know what? Wednesday I guess is somekind of superduper night, because we got every time two drinks for the price of one. Had the worst GT of my life, it only cost 2,5€, though. The tip of the night reached when we won some Berliner wifebeater guys on Fussball. I think they were some reigning champions because they kicked & screamed after the match. We had a blast just thinking that Berlin has even this to offer. So if you like the newest radio hit songs, cheap booze, sweaty dancefloors & not-so-goodlooking women, get in there! We sure won't.
